The city center is approximately 1.5 miles from the port. If you decide to climb the famous Potemkin Steps, it will take about 15 minutes to reach downtown. Taxis are usually available at the quayside.
Shopping. Deribasovskaya is the central street of the old city; the 6-block pedestrian mall is its main shopping area. Here are souvenirs and designer clothing. Odessa City Garden (Gorsad) is the famous artisan’s market, where you can buy paintings, gemstones, amber, handmade lace, etc.
Cuisine. Odessa cuisine consists principally of Ukrainian, Russian, and Jewish dishes. There are also Georgian, Turkish and Italian restaurants in Odessa, and many open air cafés along Deribasovskaya Street or near the Opera.

Crossing it, you will be in a peaceful corner of Old Odessa, near an outdoor café, where you can relax with a cup of espresso or a glass of local champagne, admiring the architectural ensemble of Gogol Street, one of the city’s most beautiful streets.
