Awaiting Your Return From Shore |
Situated on Spain’s Costa del Sol, Malaga is a
pleasant town to explore on your own, Malaga serves as a starting point for
trips to Granada and resorts along the Costa del Sol.
Splendid Granada and the famed Alhambra are the region’s most outstanding
attractions.
Some distance inland lies Ronda, a town is separated by a
300-foot-deep gorge.
Pier Information
The ship is scheduled to dock at the pier closest to the town center. If
unavailable, it will dock at Levante Pier. Taxis are generally available
at the pier.
Shopping
Shop along Calle Larios for resort fashions, leather goods, silver and
gold jewelry. The department store El Corte Inglés offers
everything under one roof, including a good selection of handicrafts and
souvenirs. Most shops close from 1 to 5; the department store stays
open. On Sundays only tourist oriented shops will be open.
Cuisine
Enjoy the local appetizers called tapas, served in typical tapas bars.
Fresh fish and seafood appear on many menus. Be sure to sample gazpacho,
the delicious cold spicy soup.
Other Sights
Malaga Fine Arts Museum. Here are works by Spanish artists
of the 16th to 20th centuries, including Picasso.
Marbella. Favored by the rich, pastimes include
strolling through the narrow streets and shady squares, shopping in chic
boutiques, and dining at quaint outdoor cafés.
Puerto Banus is also a spot for the yachting set, except
that it is smaller, more distant, and more chic than Marbella.
Torremolinos has lost much of its charm. Spend your time
seeing Mijas, Rhonda, Marbella, or Puerto Banus, instead.
Internet Connection
Internet facilities are located at Plaza de la Merced and Avenida
Andalucia, in front of the El Corte Ingles department store.
Please Note: As a precaution, do not wear valuable jewelry or
carry a large amount of money when going ashore.
Golf
Real Club de Campo de Malaga is a relatively flat course with wide
tree-lined fairways that can be played all year.
Valderrama Golf Club is ranked in the top 50 courses of the world by Golf
Magazine. |
